Terri Modic founded Montessori Children's Community in 1991. After driving three of her four sons quite a distance for Montessori education, Terri wanted to provide quality Montessori experience to those in Sewickley and the surrounding communities. In the beginning, there was one Children's House classroom with 8 children, in the educational wing of a local church. It took no time for enrollment to build, and soon MCC outgrew its first home. The school soon moved to its current location, the Sportrak, which is a larger facility on Chadwick Street in Sewickley. Many families wishing to continue their child's education in a Montessori setting urged Terri to offer elementary education. In 1999, the Lower Elementary program was founded. Today, the school offers a morning and an afternoon Children's House program as well as Lower and Upper Elementary.

MCC's 2008-2009 school year will enjoy it highest enrollment, with over a 125 children. As founder, School Head and Head Teacher, Terri is committed to educating children. She is a lifelong educator and a firm believer in quality Montessori education. Terri's dedication and commitment carries over into the teaching staff, who are highly educated and extremely dedicated to the children and families enrolled in the school. In a few short years Montessori Children's Community will be 20 years strong. The future is bright and promising for all who attend MCC or who are fortunate enough to be a part of this very special community.
